Accessibility Statement
Our Commitment to Accessibility
Accessibility is a core component of our philosophy at SW-MOTECH. We believe that everyone should have equal access to motorcycle-accessories and an unrestricted online shopping experience. That is why we have incorporated accessibility into our internal guidelines and development processes, ensuring that it remains a priority in the future.
Our Approach and Process for Accessibility
We take a holistic approach to accessibility that runs through every phase of our work, from product development to quality assurance. We adopt an approach where accessibility is a fundamental requirement in the design and development process from the very beginning, rather than being an afterthought.
Our teams receive ongoing training in accessibility best practices and are appropriately qualified to ensure that inclusive design is a priority. We also have a monitoring process that includes self-assessments and external audits. This allows us to regularly review our services and demonstrate our progress.
Compliance Status
SW-MOTECH is committed to meeting and exceeding accessibility standards. We are actively working to comply with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA and the European Standard EN 301 549, as required by the European Accessibility Act (EAA) and respective national regulations.
Currently, SW-MOTECH’s websites partially meet the above standards. This means that while most of our content and key features are accessible, some areas do not yet fully comply with the standards.
Which areas are already accessible?
Our focus is on making the most important elements of the shopping experience accessible. Our key functions, such as searching for products, adding items to the cart, and checkout, are accessible to everyone who uses screen readers and keyboard navigation.
In addition, we have added descriptive alt text to all images on our website so that people who use screen readers can understand the visual content.
At the same time, we have designed most of our interactive elements—such as product carousels, pop-up windows, and dropdown menus—to be accessible, ensuring they can be used with assistive technologies and keyboard navigation.
Areas for improvement
We are working hard to remove the remaining barriers so we can offer a fully accessible shopping experience. Some of the areas we are currently working on are:
Error handling and user feedback: We are improving the usability of forms, for example by ensuring that all fields are properly labeled and providing clear, text-based error messages. These messages are automatically linked to the corresponding fields so that users of assistive technologies can easily identify and correct errors.
Semantic Structure and Navigation: We are actively working to improve the structure of our website. We use a logical and consistent heading structure (H1, H2, etc.) on all pages to facilitate navigation with screen readers and improve content comprehension for everyone. Additionally, we have implemented “skip to content” links that appear when keyboard focus is activated. This allows users to easily skip recurring navigation elements.
Sufficient Contrast: In addition to improving text contrast, we are also enhancing the color contrast of non-text elements such as icons, buttons, and other graphical components. This ensures that users with visual impairments or color vision deficiencies can more easily perceive and interact with key elements of the user interface.
Keyboard focus management: We are improving keyboard navigation for all interactive elements so that the focus indicator is clear and easily visible.
User settings: We are working on support for dynamic text, landscape mode, and a dark mode to give users more options for customizing their visual settings.
Video content: We are actively working to improve the accessibility of our video content. This includes captions and audio descriptions for all videos, as well as playback controls (play/pause) for all animated content and videos, so that users can decide for themselves how they want to experience video content.
Technical Specifications
The accessibility of the SW-MOTECH website incorporates the following technologies, which are necessary for full compliance with our target accessibility standards: We recommend using modern browsers such as Google Chrome, Safari, or Edge to ensure the best experience with assistive technologies like NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack.
- HTML
- CSS
- JavaScript
