for Honda Africa Twin CRF1100L and CRF1100L Adventure Sports
Just in time for EICMA 2019, Honda served up the two new models CRF 1100 L and CRF 1100 L Adventure Sports of the travel enduro classic Africa Twin: More displacement and performance with less weight as well as a comprehensive package of electronic assistance systems make the two parallel twins attractive machines for travel and rides on terrain. The Adventure Sports is especially impressive in this case with its optional electronic Showa suspension, which adjusts the drive shaft damping and the shock absorber to the subfloor at the push of a button and in a matter of seconds.
The CRF 1100 L is the worthy descendant of the Queen of Africa XRV 650 Africa Twin, who claimed three wins at Paris – Dakar: Honda has revised the engine and frame, shortened the inner leg curve and added a touchscreen TFT display to both bikes. The cockpit is adorned with a variety of switches and buttons that are used by the driver to control the electronic systems on the chassis in the engine control.
The first new Africa Twins are taking to the streets this spring and SW-MOTECH is offering luggage solutions, safety products and other accessories for more safety and improved ergonomics in time for the start of the season.
PRO side carrier for motorcycle cases and bags
For transporting luggage on the tail, SW-MOTECH has designed PRO side carriers that are suitable for the Africa Twin and the Africa Twin Adventure Sports with their standard luggage rack. Sturdy PRO side carriers made of 2.5 mm-thick steel are completely removable thanks to the proven QUICK-LOCK quick-release fasteners. They ensure the TRAX ADV aluminum cases are securely held in place on the Africa Twin, with 37 liters on the right side and 45 liters on the left. Optionally, SysBags with adapter plates can also be attached to the side carriers. Adapter kits are also available for cases made by other manufacturers.
Adventure Rack - the rack for that big trip
The two current Africa Twin models differ in the structure of the tail: the Adventure Sports model features a standard luggage rack. That's why SW-MOTECH has built a bike-specific ADVENTURE-RACK for the CRF 1100 L and the CRF 1100 L Adventure Sports. An URBAN ABS or TRAX ADV top case can be attached to the sturdy ADVENTURE-RACK behind the seat; the rack also offers a sufficiently large contact surface and enough lashing points for large waterproof tail bags, such as the Drybag 350 or the Drybag 700. Material thickness, weight and geometry have been optimized for demanding tours and off-road use.
Crash bar: protection for the fairing and other components
The black crash bars made of solid powder-coated steel provide additional protection for the fairing, the motor housing and the double clutch transmission. The different shape of the fairing parts and the tanks made it necessary to develop bike-specific parts for the CRF 1100 L and the CRF 1100 L Adventure Sports. The lower and upper crash bars adapt in the best possible way to the look and the mounting points of the two models. They ensure sturdy and easy mounting onto original attachment points – motorcycle alterations are not required.
Additional protection for the engine against stone chips and ground contact:
The two Africa Twins also differ in the design of the engines. Nevertheless, SW-MOTECH offers a durable engine guard made of 4 millimeter-thick brushed aluminum sheet suitable for both models: it can protect the joists of the newly constructed frame and the manifolds from damage caused by stone chips and rebound when off-roading. State-of-the-art production give this model-specific engine guard made of high-quality aluminium alloy a secure fit without compromising ground clearance. The engine guard is screwed tightly onto load-bearing mounting points located on the frame.
